Williamsburg is a great neighborhood to hang out in and it has so many nice places to offer. On the weekends it’s very crowded — the restaurants, bars and coffee places are filled with people from all over New York. But, during the weekdays, it’s more quiet — inhabited almost exclusively by the real “Williamsburgers”, so it’s easy to find a place to eat.
With a day off work, my husband and I decided to go for lunch at Aurora on Grand Street. They have a great offering during the weekdays, with a 3-course prix fixe lunch and a glass of wine for 20 dollars. I had gazpacho – very creamy and made with watermelon, which gave it a fresh touch. For a main course, I had homemade pasta with eggplant, tomatoes, mozzarella and pesto while Jens had the skirt steak; everything was so well-cooked and tasteful. For dessert, we had ice cream, rolled in chopped hazelnuts and chocolate and “drowned” in espresso. It was a great lunch and so nice to sit on the patio outside.
