There is no place more glamorous than New York for that perfect Christmas mood. As the days get shorter, the sparkling lights of Christmas decorations in the windows and streets create a very special atmosphere in the city.
People from all over the world watch Christmas movies that take place in New York and I’m sure that has a strong effect when you’re actually in the city at Christmastime. It is even more special that you might imagine — the beautiful Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center; the Salvation Army singing their carols, ringing their bells and dancing in the street; and, especially, the ice skating rinks in Central Park and Rockefeller Center. It’s very magical!
Even though we’ve only been in New York for three years, we’ve already started some of our own family traditions. One of them is the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. I admit it’s a bit tacky but we love it. The Christmas volume gets turned up and you get sparking women dancing in short dresses, Santa Claus, Christmas trees, giant presents, Teddy bears, and fairy tales on stage.
When visiting the city, remember to go to one of the tourist shops and buy an “I Love NY” Christmas ornament for your Christmas tree. It will give you sweet memories and a warm feeling when you take out your decorations each year.
