Steven Alan is best known for casual, smart and self-assured essentials for men and women, but he also has a beautiful home design shop in Tribeca on Franklin Street. The items sold there have the same minimal, extremely well-crafted aesthetic, including ceramics, linens, pillows, jewelry and their own brand of eyeglasses. I often stop by to check out the latest arrivals — and to be inspired.

Steven Alan Home has moved to a new location on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn.

On weekday mornings around nine o’clock, you're likely to see a long line of drowsy people queuing up around the corner of Duane Street around Greenwich Street. These are parents. They have just dropped off their kids at one of the neighborhood's several excellent schools. And they are waiting for their morning fix at Laughing Man.

Laughing Man is a coffee and tea shop owned by Australian Broadway star and everyone's favorite X-Man, High Jackman, a.k.a., Wolverine. He had two goals on this mission — bring the very best product to his customers while improving the lives of his suppliers with direct sourcing and fair pricing. "Laughing Man" represents happy people on both ends of the transaction.

There isn't much room to sit at Laughing Man but, if the weather is nice, enjoy a quiet moment in nearby Duane Park or on one of the iron loading docks from an older and more industrial Tribeca. There are many celebrities in the neighborhood but here you might meet an actual superhero.
