What is better than meeting a sweet friend for lunch on a Friday afternoon and sharing updates on each other’s lives?

An old friend of mine moved to New York about the same time as us and, although we live in the same city, we don’t get to see each other as much as we’d like to. I think most of us know what it’s like to deal with a full schedule, and our social lives need to be prioritized with firm dates put into the calendar. My friend Sandra always inspires me with new places, and this time she chose Maman in Nolita, which is now one of my favorite places to go.

Maman is a bakery, of course, with delicious baked goods and good coffee, but they also have very good salads and cooked foods like soup, chicken and lasagne for a quick lunch or to take out.

We met on a nice sunny day so after our lunch we wanted to enjoy the weather. On the corner Broome and Center, almost next to Maman, you’ll find Clic Bookstore and Gallery. They have super cool photo art, beautiful books and nice home goods, even goods from my native part of the world. It was founded in 2008 by Christiane Celle and they have locations in East Hampton and St. Barth as well as this one in Soho.

Nearby at Center Market you can find the nicest handmade clogs at No. 6 Store. Mine have been used summer and winter in all kinds of weather and they’re as solid as the ones I wore as a child in the 70s.
