Sometimes, my favorite days are the ones without any plans, when we just see what the day brings. Our Christmas holiday was very much like that and exactly what everyone in my family needed.
One of the days during the break we met with friends and had brunch at Marlow & Sons in Williamsburg. The food was nice with good coffee and homemade granola. The restaurant itself has a lot of atmosphere and is very popular with the locals. The food changes every day, it’s fresh and made with good seasonal ingredients. I love when a menu changes based on what’s in season and best that particular day.
Marlow & Sons is one of several very cool places owned by the same man, with Diner, Roman’s, Reynard, Wythe Hotel and several others. There are many nice places in Williamsburg and the neighborhood still feels found, vibrant, creative and hip.
The many different cultures and subcultures you find in New York still fascinates me as people here found a way to live together in the multi diversed society. The area south of Williamsburg is still a Hassidic neighborhood. Walking from one block to the next is often like stepping into another country or another time.
