I always love the days I spend in Williamsburg — such a cool and inspiring neighborhood with many great places to eat and hang out. Once heavily industrial and populated mostly by Hassidic Jews, first generation Italians, and Puerto Rican immigrants, in the early 90s Williamsburg became the neighborhood of artists and recent college graduates. There is a vibe of diversity and creativity that still feels very authentic here.
As I like the flavors and spices from the Moroccan and Mediterranean kitchens, I wanted to try Café Mogador. The spices like cumin, ginger and cinnamon give this warm and cosy feeling when it’s still a bit chilly outside, and I love the mint tea they serve lightly sweetened with honey. It was an early lunch so I had the Middle Eastern Egg with hummus, tabouli, Arabic salad and za’atar pita.
Though the sun was out, it wasn’t quite warm enough to eat outside, but there is an enclosed patio in the back. We sat there and it was very nice; with the sunlight sun coming in, it was almost like we were dining al fresco.
